Splash.....I'm still trying to decide if my c links need changing...got the parts a while back and only had the opportunity to have a look at mine today....they're kind of like yours were in 2015, aged at the edges but otherwise looking ok... call me stupid but I can't grasp what you mean by crossing a gulley diagonally...I read a post by zollaf and he said that c links are affected when your driving over something bumpy i.e. undulation. Which tallies in with my creaky car but as I said upon checking the bushes they look ok......grrr frustrating.. I've since found bigger problems so could do without changing these links if not necessary...

If you've got them change them...as has been said (in this thread) they only take an hour max to DIY, a mechanic should take a lot less.

I think by 'gulley' Niall means a dip or concave strip of road, diagonally means not straight on but at an angle.

Appreciate that the earlier posts were mid 2015 so coming up on 20 months old

Thanks Mark for helping....I've got sweet baby up on stands right now and could swap the links in a jiffy....though if there's a chance that they're not shot, well hey I can spend the £50 on the upper rear arms that have buggered looking bushes..or better yet the disintergrating front subframe bush..yikes that looks like a biggie job to do!!!!!!!

honestly I was expecting the links to look a lot worse, from driving and obviously everyone's help on here I had thought the links were gone (over speed bumps no creaking, over undulation = creaking). Perhaps what I thought was the links causing the creaking was actually the top rear control arms, the bushes on both front and left of car are ripped/torn.
Oh and are the console bushes the same thing as subframe bushes??? As a previous inspection by a mechanic picked up on play in my rear console bush......
