    It's ok for basic scanning, fault code reading / erasing etc. and used by my father on my sister's Mercedes Benz CLK (which throws up a code once every few years!) It's not the same as VCDS (VagCom) which is the closest you will get to the VAS dealership scanning system. It won't identify the module codes that make diagnosis and part replacement easier either. Some higher end ODB scanners can perform the necessary software tasks for example when changing rear brakes that have an Electronic Parking Brake motor but generally most are restricted in what they can do unless you go for a really expensive one. VCDS however is far, far superior in its functionality and is the preferred tool for the job although the "Enthusiast" versions start at $249 for genuine cables (software is free and downloadable). Bought my VCDS cable in the UK from Gendan for a shade under £200 when on offer.
