    Hi

New here, and have recently bought a 2011 Touran. I've managed to get hold of an RCD510 so I can upgrade to DAB, but I'm now looking to find an roof aerial and cable to get it all working (Not keen on glass mounts!).

I've sourced a genuine (or so it appears) DAB/GPS fin/aerial combo on eBay (GPS might be handy for future upgrade), but I'd also need the 6m cable – does anyone know the part number or any aftermarket ones that fit? Or are the cables 'standard'?

I'm tempted just to take it to a specialist and have them fit an aftermarket bee-sting and them use their own cable (apparently aftermarket fins are poor and the bee-stings have better reception), but I'd like genuine VW bits if I can get them without spending a fortune!

    Thanks!

    Ben

Hi Ben, if you're not too keen on glass mounting, try fitting the aerial inside the A-pillar cover. I just fitted an Audioleads film type aerial like this in my A3, and get excellent reception on DAB. Just make sure you earth the copper part of the tape (I used a small croc clip and a short wire to a bolt on the A-pillar), and earth the thin black wire under the dash somewhere. The aerial has an amplifier built in, so the head unit has to be set to "Active Aerial" so that it sends a voltage down the centre of the co-ax cable.

Saves drilling holes in your roof!

    Thanks Jace

That might be an option, although I think I'd prefer roof-mount ideally. I think I may just go for a 3rd party aerial and let someone who knows what they're doing loose on it. Me and electrics/mechanics don't mix! I'm pretty sure the dummy is bolted on, so hopefully no drilling required!

I did ask at the Bath VW centre, but as this isn't a standard VW retrofit, they quoted over £1,000 to fit!
