reversing sensors

My alhambra has reversing sensors and i get a beep when i start the car for 2 seconds or so but the sound dosent come on when reversing close to an object. The button on dash changes nothing, is this supposed to be pressed before reversing? either pressed or not im getting no warning bleeps. How do i check these or can i do a diagnostic without going to dealer?

sounds like one or more sensors have failed.

where abouts are you? might be someone near with the equipment needed to diagnose correctly.

Put your ignition of and put the car in reverse. Now go to the back of the car and lightly touch the back of a finger nail onto each of the sensors. You should be able to feel each one vibrate a little. See if one of them isn't vibrating. That'll be your faulty one.
