    Hello All,

Can anyone shed some info on engine re-mapping??? I have heard in previous years that it firstly improves your oompphh (Horsepower) but also, can provide improve fuel economy , of which am more intrested in.
Is there any truth in it ???

    What engine and output ?

Mpg usually stays the same , but with big difference in drivability , more power at top for longer , torque coming in earlier and stronger , smoother to drive .

It's a three-letter code starting with B on the sticker on the inside cover of your service book. Same sticker is on the inside of the spare wheel well. The other codes you can de-code at:

I ask because for TDi engines there's modifications you can make to ensure less troublesome running in the future, such as EGR delete, that need to be done first before the re-map. I've a 2.0L tFSI here so have different issues for re-map

1.9 pd tdi engine in B6 passat is 105 bhp. It can be easily remapped to 130 bhp with no detrimental effect. Fuel consumption will stay more or less the same (depends how you drive). 130 -150 bhp is possible but not really worth it. An egr delete will give better mpg but produces more air pollution. Some 1.9 pd tdi have dpf. Deleting this will improve mpg but increase air pollution. So you can save fuel and poison the environment.
