    Hi,

I have a just bought a 2010 A3(P8A) with a 2.0 TDI and 6-speed manual gearbox. I've noticed that when the car is cold the engine makes a knocking sound at around 2000-3000 RPM and hard acceleration is impossible as the response can only be described as lumpy. Once the engine starts to reach operating temperature, the problem goes away and the engine is as smooth as you like.

Is this normal? Maybe some sort of protection when the engine is cold? Or am I looking at a problem ... maybe with the DMF or clutch?

    Thanks!

Was it bought from a dealer/trader? If you're not happy then take it back.
