Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums and this is my first post - I've just bought a lovely 08 plate A6 and I need to get a Bluetooth unit fitted for handsfree - mobile and music ideally.

I've looked at the IO Play2 and Parrot MKI9200 - does anyone have any experience of these, and are there any preferences or other models I should consider?

    Thanks for reading

Personally I prefer the OEM look and function so I retrofitted the bluetooth module for phone and AMI with bluetooth. There are other solutions as you have mentioned. It's your money it's your choice, have a search for what others have done and make up your own mind!

The above solutions don't work at all well with the Audi MMI system, your best off going for something like a dension gateway 500s BT. It will cost more but will work with the MMI system.

Thanks for the feedback - this is important to get right! Where would I find out about the retro fit of the OEM, such as parts needed, costs etc - can anyone recommend someone near St. Albans I could have a chat with please?

I did the same , a few years back I retrofitted the AMI by swapping out the CD changer. Then I managed to source the Audi OEM Bluetooth dongle from a local dealer who happened to have it in stock ! I swallowed hard at the £100 charge for the dongle. It sounds astonishingly good with just the standard Audi audio system, so was a good spend. I too am very particular about audio quality and for some reason I get the best audio results with my iPhone 5 rather than 6 but to some this is just splitting hairs.

My car also has factory fitted hands free Bluetooth. The advantage is that my iPhone 6 connects via Bluetooth to the hands free. And my iPhone 5 can connect to the dongle's Bluetooth independent of the iPhone 6.

This is something that I doubt is possible with the A6 C7 which I am about to post about in that forum in case I can learn otherwise ...

Thanks B5nut. I am going to go for the Dension Gateway 500s BT with the additional DAB add-on. I am planning on sourcing this from eBay, I think I can get both for around £400. Do you know if these are easy to self-install or should I look for someone to do that for me - and if so, does anyone have any recommendations in St Albans?
