What should i buy?

I have a real hankering for a Big Diesel quattro avant so which engine is best? and is auto, tip or manual the best box, i dont do heavy towing, i dont do a lot of miles but i like big estates and the audis to me are special. i have owned loads of 80 avants and A4 avants all 1.9tdi but i would like a big 2.5 2.7 or 3.0ltr version in quattro spec.

Still not sure if A4 or A6 but either would be good. Looking something around 2005 2006 era.

cherish your thoughts and what to look for on these please. I have been told the 2.5 can starve oil to the cams? but i dont know if that is a fact or not.

The 3.0 TDi engine is one of my favourite VAG engines. So smooth and refined with bags of torque. I've got a friend with an A6 AllRoad 3.0 TDI and its a cracking car, and another who had an A6 LeMan's 3.0 TDI. The 2.5 and 2.7 are nowhere near as 'refined' or 'smooth' for want of a better description. They're far more like a 'traditional diesel'.

This is true.. my B7 RS4 with the drivers seat back far enough to be comfortable made it nearly impossible for anyone who actually had legs to sit behind me. I was surprised by how bad the rear legroom was.

if I may ask, is there anything to be concerned about with the 30tdi? I know service history is vital, what about auto or tip boxes how reliable are these? And are these engines belt or chsin driven? When did the B7 end and the C 6 start, or other way round maybe? I donno!
