So from a distance today i noticed my car had a lean

Got home from work and tested with a ruler

Rear passanger side 1.5cm higher than the rear passanger

Front passanger 1cm higher than the drivers passanger

Fronts about 4cm higher than back

I can here no knocking from any wheel

The car a4 avant s line b7 currently has 19inch wheels on so not much clearance anyway
I had planned putting a tow bar on this weekend but am now worried about the suspension

My guess would be snapped springs but as i cant here any knocking cant see how this would be the case its a very firm ride as id expect from an s line although only had the car a week

a snapped spring won't cause a knocking under most circumstances. you need to get it in the air and examine them in turn. if its not obvious, check the ends, they should be a clean square end, look for a jagged end or rust. its not always easy to find them. also look for broken bits either top or bottom.

Ok no idea why i seemed to think a snapped spring would cause a knock,
I had put tomorrow morning asside to fit a tow bar so looks like ill be inspecting springs instead,
is there anything else it could be ?

Well off to audi tomorrow to order/get new springs
been reading through haynes manual and it seems fairly simple, now this worries me slightly as i thought it would be more complicated

all the online guides are for complete replacement and i only want to do rear springs

my book basically just says compress springs, and remove

is it really that simple ?

    Well quick update,

ordered springs via audi £188.42 for the pair, i know i could have got a full set of lowering springs at that price but eould rather keep the s line springs for time being.

Have a friend who can lend me spring compressor tonight so will hopefully be back in the avant in no time
luckily for me i still have my saloon so so daily choors resume

Do use a proper spring compressor, seen a half baked job with G clamps go wrong, wasn't pretty.
