    Hello people,

I'm toying with the idea of remapping my 2.0L golf Gt TDI 140 (BKD)

Its just about to get to 175K miles

Looking for a bit more power but nt to affect the MPG too much (if not improve it)

    Any ideas on whats best.

I'm from Wiltshire so advice on any local expert would be good.

    Cheers,

    Buzz

Sounds a bit high mileage to be considering a remap I reckon.

You'll need to consider the condition and age of the clutch/flywheel and turbo particularly.

Choose a VERY reputable company. Have a rolling road test done before and afterwards (making sure you get copies of the print-outs), and get a comprehensive list of every parameter that has been changed during the remap process, that way if something goes bang afterwards, you can have some come back on the remapping company.

Also, choose a company that offers a warranty/guarantee on their work, and also will remove the remap and refund you if you drive the car and then decide you don't like the new map.

Remapping is still pretty much a black art, so you will need to be very careful who you choose. Not a single one of them can properly substantiate their claims for where the safe remapping levels for the various engines are. I would've thought this would be simple to information to put on their websites, but I've yet to see anyone do it, and when I have asked specific questions of various companies, I haven't received satisfactory answers, or have just been ignored once they realise there won't be an easy 'no questions asked' sale of a remap.

Also, don't forget to tell your insurer.

    Thanks for the reply dude.

I do understand the fact that higher milage could be an issue however I've had the car for over 5 Years and have always serviced it every 5K miles (Ive done around over 80K).
I'd just like a bit more get up and go, rather than buy a different car as I really still do enjoy driving it.

Has anybody used or know of a good re-mapper local to the Wiltshire area?
I'm not after huge horse power gains, just trying to make it a bit more fun as my daily drive.
I'm toying with getting a R35 GT-R as my fun weekend car and for the insurance cost of £440 (for a car with 550bhp!!!!) I gusss there is an upside to having just turned 40 lol

Thought about getting a local superchips chap to remap the car but there is no before and after rolling road report.
