Agree but the whole fiasco really scared me off old/expensive cars. Anyway I then bought 2 used approved cars in a row (535d, X5 35d) and now just lease new cars. The wife really wants a last shape 4.4 TDV8 Range Rover but the cost of warranties dealer approved or not is going to be the deal maker/breaker. A gear box for one of those is circa £10k!!!

I have to say BMW own used approved was amazing.

+1, I've had the same problem with warranty direct years ago & I'll never use a warranty company again.

Or by being difficult and withholding payment for a random reason.

My car is 18 years old, and bar my recent prang, over the last few years i've not had an awful lot go wrong with it since I took looking after it into my own hands. Its been a learning curve - but I'm glad I did it this way. Preventive maintenance is the best way to keep it running. I even dropped my gearbox oil at 100k and put fresh in it. Runs like a dream!
