I've got a set of continental sport contract 5 on the front of my A6 2.0 TDI. I've been running them with 32 psi, mainly doing motorway miles on my own and I've noticed they are wearing on the middle of the thread as if they're over inflated. I've checked the pressures with different devices and all the trading where closer to 32 psi.
Any advice or recommendations on what pressures to use? I'm about to fit a pair of Goodyear F1 asymmetric2
P.S They are measuring 4mm outside and 2mm in the middle of both tyres.
    Thanks

What are the pressures listed on the inside of the drivers door jam for that size?

try 28 then. keep an eye on the depths. or use chalk dust to cover an area of tread, drive a few yards and see how it wears. adjust the pressure up and down until it wears evenly across the tread.

^ just remember pressures will differ car to car due to drivetrain, overall weight, engine size and type of body.

It recommends 32psi, so they're bang on. The rear tyres are the original Bridgestone and they are running the same pressure as the front and wearing evenly. Thinking it may be the contis tyre construction....

I have a similar problem with my factory fitted Bridgestone Turanza tyres (also 245 45 18s 2.0 tdi ultra). They've always been within manufacturer recommended pressures, but both front tyres have worn down towards the legal limit in the middle after 14k miles, but have lots of tread towards the outside. Will be running my new front tyres (Michelin Primacy 3) at slightly lower pressure.

Good tip zollaf re chalk dust.

Good to hear I'm not the only one having this problem. The bridgestone on the rear of my car are the original and have 32k miles on them and they're just on the limit. So I'll fit the contis on the rear and hope they even out and fit the new tyres to the front.
