As all VAG cars appear to come from the factory with a 13 pin plug, but only 10 sockets, there must be someone out there who is supplying the parts to convert the factory set up to something that is compatible with the requirements of the caravan towing community.
If so please make yourselves known!....

I know it only needs a smart relay and some connections, but it will be a lot easier if the correct parts are available to keep it looking like it should and not an afterthought.

Car make and model are irrelevant, all VAG group cars whether Audi, VW or Skoda would appear to have the same issues. As it happens in this case it is a 2010 Q5 with factory fitted tow bar.

Hi, If it was fitted at the factory when the vehicle was built then there isn't a kit you can buy, if it was fitted with genuine Audi parts by the dealers as an extra then there are different extension kits the 300025, 300027 and the 300028 all ending in 300113 (Which we sell)
If it does turn out ot be factory built then the cheapest way would be to use a split charge relay and wire it yourself.

    Thanks Adam.

I Agree, very stupid to assume that nobody intends to tow a caravan but that's the way they do it at the factory, we can sometimes get the pins to populate the socket then your cheapest option would be to use a split charge relay (no splicing into the cars loom is required as you just need to run seperate live wires to the battery) http://www.pfjones.co.uk/towbar-elec...lay-tec3m.html
Give us a call Monday to see if we have some pins.
