Oil Leak vale cover/rocker cover

Hi all tried to do a search on my phone but it's just jumping about.

I i have a lot of oil down the left hand side of my engine which is a 2007 tdi 140 and I think it my be coming from the valve cover is this a easy job to do my self or should I put it into a garage to be done. Has anyone else had the same problems or carried out this work any info would be a help.

Best to clean it up and then see exactly where its coming from, brake cleaner is excellent at this job, do not smoke or start the engine until it has all evaporated.
Rocker gaskets are never hard to change, it all depends whats in the way.
Just looked on ebay several variations as I dont know your specific engine type, but they are all the rubber type, so its remove cover clean it all up, fit new gasket and refit cover if that is indeed the source of the leak.

Thanks for the reply I have the bre engine and by the looks of it it's failing in a few spots but mainly on the left side. What can cause it to go is it just old age or could excesses oil after my last services cause exstra straine on it.
Does the cover need to be torqued down to a certain tightness or is it tights tight

Don't want to start a new thread but think my head gasket could be away still got a oil leak around the exhaust Manifold and it's the lonely thing I think it could be
