I recently bought an Audi cabriolet year 2000, picked it up cheap and thought it would be a nice run about for the wife during summer the car itself is in very good condition,i was told when I bought the car the drivers side front wheel bearing was going to need changing simple fix (I thought) only when I got the car home and took off the wheel I found all four hubs had been welded up and ground then re drilled and fitted with 4 stud wheels so my question is what hubs can i use as doner, I don't want to go back to 5 stud as I will then have to replace the wheels also..trying to keep cost down.

Buddy I would be very very surprised if you could ever insure the car in that state, go back to 5 stud and scrap what's there. It's a bodge of the highest order buddy.

The top left hole, looking through the brake disc, it looks like they have tapped the new hole onto an existing hole. This is not good. Remember that is all that is going to save you when you have to brake hard. Looks like you need new hubs, disks and wheels. Good opportunity to get the lot overhauled.

I agree total overhaul, I have been looking for the same model via breakers but so far come up with zero. Buying new is not an option as the cost complete with new wheels would make the car none
viable. Waiting for a response from audi to see if A4 hubs from same year are an option if not it will be a scrapped project.

If the wheels are 4 stud they are not a4, all a4s are 5 stud, yours should have all the same suspension gear as a 96-01 a4 so should be no problem getting the bits you need.

Look on gumtree or pre-loved for someone selling or breaking an A4/Passat, crashed or one with engine troubles. I assume you have a good grasp of the spanner because it will take you a couple of days. Before doing anything contact the seller and if needs be the police. This moron could have wiped out you, your family or another family.
