    Hi folks

My water pump is gone and is ******* like mad - sump is dripping with coolant - having it done /fixed 2moro.
my question is : can a faulty water pump cause water to actually go into the internal oil chamber of the engine? - as i do get yellow sludge under the oil filler cap - especially during winters

    cheers

    Waterpump, no.

Even a head gasket failure on these TDI's is unlikely to get water into the oil but of course it is not impossible.

Do you do short journeys in the car and not let it warm up properly, it takes at least 15-20 mins to get these properly warm. Your problem is probably condensation.

    hi

    thnx for the reply.
Yes i do do short journeys ,many of a time. BTW its not a TDI its a 1.6 16V SE.
Strangely since the repair, ive not noticed any yellow gunk or condensation under the oil filler cap.

    but thats cars for you!
