It depends what you want it for? Trickle charge, boost etc. I can recommend you don't buy any brand you don't recognise or anything from a Sunday market. Sealey do a decent range

Pick one you can afford and buy the next one up. One good one will last a lifetime.

As with everything, always buy the best you can afford.

    Agreed with the Ctek comment
Thats what I use a couple of times a year when I know the car won't be used for a bit - I take my battery out due to mains issues but very easy to use. Has polarity protection and clear indicators as to the condtion of the battery and how far it has got in charging it.

Lidl do a similar charger to CTEK and mine's been well worth the £15ish I seem to remember it cost. ALDI do similar but both are rapidly sold out. CTEK though is the benchmark and was also available in Costco stores (not too close to you I guess) although not online, and I think has been replaced by Ring products.

I also find a solar charger (propped up behind the middle headrest, restrained by the "parcel net" squeezing the base, and plugged into the boot socket) is a good insurance policy this time of year.
