I recently bought an A4 avant 1.8T Quattro from a small car dealer, little bit rough round the edges but nothing that couldn't be fixed like a broken window regulator (standard problem and easy fix) a bit of rust on a wing and a hole in an exhaust sleeve. Turned out it also was suffering the dreaded blocked oil pick up! Didn't show up on test drive, only once I had driven 150 miles home and a few days poottling around the low oil pressure light came on! Had it all checked locally and new oil pump sump drop and strainer required.

I contacted the dealer who promised to find some of the repair, £200 agreed relevant bank details sent to get the cash sent over, but after several attempts to get the money nothing has been sent to me. Dealer being a ******* **** over it now!

I have had the repair carried out at a substantial cost to me to enable my wife to use the car!

Anybody used small claims court for this sort of thing?

send him a letter, giving him 14 days to pay for the full amount f repairs or you will take hi to court. he is liable for the car for 6 months from date of purchase.

read this Court rejects dealer's right to repair - Car Dealer Magazine and also look up the sales of goods act 1986.

Just an update, several further calls and threat of court action resulted in more excuses and promises!

Got it hold of a mate for back up and drove up to see said garage, the owner was out but his brother was there(salesman). Luckily the owner turned up 5 mins later... to say he was surprised to see me was an understatement!

Bill politely shoved in his face, he comes out with the usual I've been busy comments. 2 mins later he he has the cash out of the drawer and in my hand!

    Good result with no dramas.
