A4 Alarm

Hello, I have read quite a few threads regarding alarm problems but not sure which applies to me! When I lock and arm the car it works but then I get a beeping sound which lasts up to a minute. This has also started happening within a few minutes of it stopping so it is obviously getting worse.
I have read something about water in the passenger footwell and battery in the boot, oh and also connectors.
As you can probably tell I am confused as to where to start so any advice will be gratefully received!

The alarm module in behind the boot lining on the passenger side has a battery back-up. When this starts to fail you get beeping from the alarm sounder. Its not an expensive item to replace if this is the cause, as always though a vagcom scan will tell you exactly which part is faulty.

Nice one. I have found a thread that talks about removing the lining in the boot so will give it a go!
