The fault has only occurred once. I would clear it and see if it comes back. Do you have a visual display on your MMI for parking sensors? You could watch that and get someone to put their hand infront of each until you find a faulty one?

Fault was cleared before that scan . The park sensor button flashes with a long tone ... Visual display does not kick in.... So annoyingly for the last 8 months engaging reverse has been accompanied by a long tone

Ah right, that's a shame. The sensors give off a very faint clicking sound when they are on, if you put it in reverse (ignition doesn't need to be on) and then get your ear really close to each sensor you should be able to hear them working (or not) and that may help you ID the dodgy one.

Oh! That is rubbish! Afraid I'm out of ideas, hopefully someone will be along with another idea shortly.

They vibrate very slightly. Hold the back of a finger nail against them and you can just feel it vibrating. No vibration - no working

I usually use the finger nail test myself, but can't you read the output from the sensors via measured values in VCDS? One of them won't change when you walk in front of the car.

    Jim.
