I've never got past the mid 40s, yesterday's journey in my 272ps A7 with 16k on the clock was:

    Harrogate - Dudley via M42
    2.5h, 150 miles, 51mph, 41.8mpg

    Dudley - Harrogate via M6
2.5h, 143 miles, 50mph, 45mpg (the return journey was through long sections of 50mph average speed checked roadworks)

A long way off Danny-bonny's mpg

Mine has settled down now. I am on 35K and on a steady run will see at least 50mpg. Colder weather makes quite a difference. I have seen 60mpg come up but never manage to keep it up. The eco setting does not seem to make a huge difference.

I would say the Eco had a detrimental effect on the biturbo but that mpg is a distant memory with the S3!! The A6/7 is a far better cruiser than most other cars though.

My A7 averaged 38 mpg brim to brim with a mixture of driving. It was remapped by Revo and the average consumption rose to 43 mpg. The car had covered 95k when I sold it last year. The A6 2.0d ultra I have now has averaged 45 mpg. I have seen 61 mpg but that was with an extremely light right foot.

Spend a lot of time on motorways (m1 and m25, so a it stop / start at times), on a 100mile trip i would usually see 50+mpg. Never really drops below 45mpg, but i am accused of driving like Miss Daisy. I take my time and enjoy my music. :-)

We all take our time on motorways now they are all enforced and reduced to 50mph all the time for no reason (apart from the speed cameras are on and it makes money)

I used to get bored driving to the old office, which was approx 50miles on the M25 & M4. I played different games to amuse myself - one was 'how high could I get the mpg' & 'Miles per tank'. Best journey I returned 62.4mpg, and took a pic, as a friend at the office didn't believe me! lol (Range 700miles).
It meant driving like Miss Daisy, barely touching the throttle, and getting overtaken by lorries, but it nailed the lid on that game.

These days it's more like mid-late 40's on the motorway, and more fun...!
