Noise when pulling away

Hi all

I've recently experienced a very annoying noise from my 2010 (60) A6 2.0 TDi Le Mans. Any suggestions would be very welcome, as it is now stating to drive me NUTS

• the noise is a dull 'clunk' from the dashboard area (driver side)
• it happens ONLY when pulling away from stationary - 1st or 2nd gear
• it clunks 5-6 times only, clunks being evenly spaced in time, and then it stops
• it ONLY happens when the fan or climate is switched ON

Any ideas?

Car is out of warranty, so I'm loathe to embark on a costly main dealer investigation

I appreciate this is an old thread, but searching to find the issue before posting. I have this exact thing. Did you ever find out what it was.

I haven't done anything about it, but I think it is to do with the aircon vent mechanism slipping - I've seen this reported elsewhere.

Planning on selling shortly anyway, and my wife's been driving it last couple of years so she never hears a thing because she turns the radio up (cheap fix)

Yeah now ive read someone else has the "issue", i dont think its anything to worry about. Bit weird its only when pulling a way in first though.
