    seller ask chassis number, of course said its not compatible, only suitable for A6 2009 model year, said i need 4F0057111DX..
    so should be re listed on ebay soon

    By the way, anyone knows what kind tools need to disable component protection? My pal has a snap on diagnostic tools, its possible to use that?

    No, snap-on, vcds, vag can pro etc will not remove CP. Component protection requires connection to Audi's database in Germany, you need VAS with an authorised login to the geko database. Some specialist garages have registered VAS equipment but I found their costs to be no cheaper then the dealers.

    There are some tools on the market that can get around component protect, but these tools cost around £3,000 and again very few garages have them.

    Fanatic, probs a good idea if you state where in Scotland you are in your location, as someone could recommend someone in Thurso when you are in Dundee!

    if you buy like for like unit, mostly its the mechanical part that is faulty, may not need component protection if units mechincal part is swapped and keeping the base electronics of the original cd player.
    Thats only advisable if you are confident enough to play with this.

    i get same cd changer from abroad, without component protection for 130£ with 6 month warranty.
    just wonder, once cp removed, i can update my firmware, and sell it, so unit will work on other car or needs cp removed again??

    Not sure how you got it without CP, once you plug it into your car it'll enable??

    CP is to do with the car, not the individual part. If you sell it to someone else then it'll need removed again once they put it into their car.
