    Good afternoon all,

Does any one else have a vibration/wobble from 40 mph up to the max speed limit through the front wheels.

I first borught the car in Apr 07 and I first noticed a wobble pulling away from the VW dealer. Took it straight back and they said one of the struts had gone - which they replaced, 2nd time picked the car up, noticed vibration/wobble from speeds mententioned above. Took the car back and VW dealer found no faults, wheeles balanced, all under car tight, etc.. VW dealer said it was the car and all Sharan's do this due to the tyre's.

So, to my question, does any one else have the same issue?

if the dealer says its down to tyres get them to change the tyre see if it persists
never heard of a wobble of a tyre that is fine
seen a wobble of a tyre which was damaged and the steel banding in the tyre had failed which put the tyre out of trueness

this can be any of one thing or a few things combined

    what year is the car?
how many miles has the car done?
does it go away after 70mph ?
what style of wheels is it alloy or steel is the wheels all straight and not buckled as know the new alhambra have problems of the alloy wheel fracturing
car any signs of accident damage?
does the problem happen only when gaining speed?
is the problem still there when you ease off the throttle and getting the carto slow down through the gearbox?
does it go away if you dip the clutch ?
does it get worse under harsh braking?
are your front tyres wearing evenly?
is the steering responsive ( likes if your turn the steering wheel very little does the front wheels move at the same amount)?

could be down to worn suspension bushes or steering rack/track rod ends but usually would get some type of brake judder under severe braking

if goes away when you ease of the throttle could be the clutch at fault/worn inner or out CV joints
or worn internals in the gearbox

if tyres are wearing unevenly have you had the tracking checked recently

failing all this woulg go to a local respectable garage to see if they can pinpoint it and if still not satisfied get a second opinion

hi chalkmyster, ive a 2003 tdi alhambra with the same problem i thought it was the dog leg or the engine mount at the bottom of the engine and replaced it, although this did help abit it still didnt solve the problem. after talking to local folk the same answer was given that its most likely the dual mass flywheel it can cause this problem, only remedy is to replace the flywheel and clutch kit. mine hasnt been replaced yet but its due with 100,000 miles on the clock...ive also learned that some companys remanufacture the dual mass flywheel by welding them together and doing a rebalance this seems to be the answer to fixing the troublesome dual mass issue...i'll post comments as soon as my clutch has been replaced as to weather this genuinley resolved the wobble issue...
