Got a 51 plate Sharan. The boot has never unlocked or been able to be opened just with the handle in the time I have owned it.

have always had to open it with the key in the boot lock (ie central locking from drivers door won't unlock it).

Selling the car now and Sod's law each and every time I put car in reverse I can hear the lock go and the boot actually opens slightly.

Whats causing this? Must be a short of some sort but is there a fuse I can remove?

My guess would be that the wiring loom between the body and the tailgate is damaged. Near the tailgate hinges you'll see rubber concertina tubing. If you pop the tubing off at the tailgate end and fold it back to expose the loom you might find some of the insulation has broken exposing bare wires. That would seem the most likely cause of your problem.

    Jim.

Thanks for that. Pulled it off and there seemed to be a number of damaged wires as per your pic with such s tight area to try and insulate or know if they need repairing. However just be taking apart rubber it's cured it and have checked all lights still working...
