looks like there is seprate power (and control) of the tailgate and chassis sections of the indicator lights. Dont think they quite 'sweep' like the MY2015 but by powering up the 2 sections with a slight delay between them gives the ilusion of a sweep.
Perhaps control is hidden within the VCDS or the modification simply involves adding a little electronic timer circuit in the chassis indicator lights section so they come on slightly after the tailgate ones....?

I did a little ferreting on the inter web after reading this thread and found something that might interest you. I looked at the video link in your earlier post and it didn't seem like the fella you asked for the how to is going to be forthcoming. All the same I think I might have found how he might have done it . . . follow this link seems they sell an add on module that to a degree mimics the dynamic turn signal effect, from the videos linked to that site it might very well be how the uploader of your vid might have done it. I'll let you decide for yourself if its worth pursuing that is if you haven't seen it already.
I am of the thinking that it might be done by coding too and have spent a little time looking into it and found a potential lead in a document (see below) I think created by a fella called Stevial he has a few videos on youtube under that user name, have only played with it a little but there might be some promise in it. Take a look . . . . see what you think.

Good morning all, thanks for your replies and links. It seems that it is a little box that you plug into the outside light which slightly delays how long it takes to come on, thus giving the sweeping look. Its not fully dynamic as the new ones but it does give the effect. Im not sure if it can be done by coding but I will have a look at the diagram (thanks Ndiye) and see if I can make it work.

Well I couldn't find anything in VCDS to make the sweeping indicators work so have ordered a set of semi dynamic indicators. Its a box that plugs in and delays the time it takes the outside element to come on. Ive bought them from shop.cetecarcoding.de (click on the Union flag at the bottom for it to be translated). This is the effect they give.... Audi Semi Dynamic Turning Signal - Semi Dynamischer Blinker - Einbauanleitung - YouTube

They should be here in the next week or so so will update with pics and vids as I fit them.

Hmm. Are you sure? I can see the difference in the light designs 100%.

But if I watch it in slow motion, it looks to me like it has got more control over the LEDs than simply lighting the two halves up separately. Watch youtube in slow motion (Click on the 1/4 speed button). To my eyes, it seems to be controlling each LED separately?
