    Buy yourself VCDS lite from Gendan it will work on your car. It will save you money and you can upgrade to the full version cheaply enough. GL with it I have to go tidy the shed cos the dog ripped up my sawdust bags Grrr

    Thanks for all the advice today Doctle Odd,

    the parts site isnt for individuals it seems, only trade customers. I am not sure what the rules are for posting links so I will just comment that I foudn a genuine VW N75 supplier on ebay selling them for £52 so seems like that could do it.
    As for the Vagcom. I am a student and just splashed out what I had on this Car. I will certainly note this down for payday though. I have been lucky enough already to borrow my colleagues VCDS, he has the cable and computer software. He paid 200 for the software so I imagine its simillar to the one you speak of, if not the same on.

    I dont really know how to use these systems, except "read fault codes" button lol.
    Anyways, I will keep you guys posted with what the mechanics say.
