Just out of curiousity will these members have a different system to the VAGCOM one that I used to find the error codes. I messaged the closest member to me so we shall see what happens.

Just popped to the garage (across my road is the german car guy) and they took my number in case of any cancellations.

I'd have to agree with Zollaf on this, the N75 fails and gives the symptoms you describe. It's a 50 quid genuine part. vag.com is the old name for VCDS

I see, sounds good I might just order one on ebay to have ready in case the mechanic think it is that. OEM versions look to be £40, is there a brand you'd recommend?

Gendan Automotive Products :: Professional and DIY car diagnostic tools :: EOBD, OBD II, CAN and VAG Code Readers and Scan Tools for VCDS it's about 250.00. There are 2 types on ebay VAG409 which is VCDS lite and has very limited functions or pirate versions of VCDS that are illegal, can damage your car and will make your hair catch fire even in strong winds, avoid them.
Gendan sell a good quality lead you can use with VCDS lite

Apologies I meant for the N75, OEM version on ebay are 40 but they look like Chinese generic ones. If you maybe had recommendations for which n75 to go for?
