I doubt that a warranty will cover that.

I had a after market warranty and they proved themselves more than worthless as they said they would cover an inlet manifold and when i claimed they sent may car to a garage of their choice only to run a big labour bill.

Then they refused to pay out for the work. I had to get them to put the old one back on and then fight with the warranty company to get them to cover the garage bill.

My car was off the road in a garage for 4 days whilst the fighting was going on for a 2 hr job.

Good luck with finding a warranty company.

Have you thought about sending the unit to an electronics repair company?

    Such as BAA remain.

I think depending what Audi say I'll look at my options. If it's a quick fairly cheap (as in £100s) fix with them I'll get them to do it, otherwise I'll look elsewhere including doing it myself.

Well, for the last two days it's all been fine!

Was an absolute B***h on Tuesday but Wednesday/Thursday has been back to normal. Very strange. Will be looking into whether there is a water ingress issue.

Going to cancel the Audi appointment, but no doubt it'll rear it's head again as soon as I do!! Thanks for all your help, it'll be good reference for anyone else with the same issue, and for me if it happens again!

I had a look yesterday but didn't notice anything. Will have a look at the water ingress discussion to see exactly where it comes in from. Am starting to think something off like that had happened.

Hi I have a 2011 audi a6 avant. Its the last model of the c6 with mmi 3g high hdd. I have the same problem. The car was bought from an auction and the mmi is completely dead. The screen doesn't power on and there is no lights on the control buttons.

I've had a long search around this forum and checked all the post with similar issues. It has come to my attention that the car is fitted from factory with the 7T6 SATNAV unit but it is missing from the glove box. My concern is! Does the car need that satnav unit to power the whole mmi system? I have since bought a loop kit and looped the optical system from the missing unit. But still nothing. Im wondering if the mmi unit in the boot is the problem or the satnav is part of the system to function properly.

There is red light flashing at the missing satnav optical wiring so looped it there. But at the boot module there is no light in the optical wire. Should there be a red light in the wire at the boot or does the feed start from the module in the boot to the from of the car?

There is a 6 dics changer in the glove box and that has power and functions. There is no screen no sound or no lights on the gear stick control buttons. The boot module is 4G0 code.

The only fault showing on diagnostic is can bus open circuit mmi. No other faults.

Any help on if the satnav unit is needed or can be looped out would be much appreciated 🙏 before I spend a lot of money on the boot module🤣🙈

    Thanks

    Alec

Hello. I literally have the same exact issue now.
Bought AUDI A6 c6 Avant 2007 Le Mans 3.0tdi Quattro with a dead MMI. Screen never turns on, buttons do not light up, fiber optic cable has no red light in the boot or under the passenger seat by Bluetooth module (UK car). Centre console buttons looks good but took the unit apart anyways and checked the board. Looks like new no rust or liquids spilled. Footwell and boot seems to also be dry. Scanned the car with VCDS and got:
    19-CAN Gateway -- Status: Malfunction 0010, 1 Fault Found:00384 - Optical Databus
    011 - Open Circuit
As far as I understand that means one of the components is not working being BT unit, Sirius module, SAT nav, AMP.
Tried plugging in optical loop bypass cable in every unit but still have no buttons light up or MMI screen.
I have checked all the fuses on both side of the dash and also in the boot but they are all good. I even checked them with multimeter to be sure they are good.
Well anyways I will keep fault finding and I will update this whenever I fix this and maybe I'll even make a Youtube video.
Fingers crossed it's soon as I've been driving in silence for about 6 weeks now listening to my injector copper washers ticking lol That will have to be sorted next though.
