    Questions.

    Do you have bose

Did you power down the radio module like I said in my first post.

Can you post up the gateway installation list.
Thanks everyone for all the replies, I knew I could rely on you guys

    I don't have Bose.

I have powered down the radio module, but it's gone down hill to a new level; it's now cutting in and out of all inputs randomly (when it actually works). Is this component protection or just a further issue?

    Gateway installation list:

    19-CAN Gateway ERROR ERROR
    0E-Media Player 1 ERROR ERROR
    56-Radio ERROR ERROR

They are the only ones that came up, which was also a bit worrying. Shouldn't the ones that were ok supposed to show too?

Yes you are missing the 5F module (main MMI controller) in that list.

Can you post your gateway installation list.

If yours is blank you need to find the Fuse for the 5F module Audi Multimedia (I think it should be a 15AMP fuse)

Ahh sorry, thought you meant the gateway installation list? I posted that above, giving the 3 modules with errors.

If you want the output from the scan I'll post that...

Can you post up the latest error codes for the can-gateway. Just want to see if the Optical bus error Fault Frequency has increased.

From the looks of this it does appear that your 5F module is faulty, if you perform another
Optical Bus Diagnostic does it appear?

I'll give it a go in the morning, it ******* it down outside at the moment lol

Thanks for the quick replies by the way. If 5f is faulty, can I replace it or dealer only?

I've got it booked in to Derby Audi on 3rd November just in case but they're charging me £60 just for diagnostic that I've done myself anyway :-( then obviously repair bill!

Your best of replacing the module, not unless you have a spare £2,500 doing nothing! As that is just the cost of the module you the will need to add at least an hours labour may be more if the replacement module requires firmware updates.

Also if does turn out that the module is faulty then your best off looking for one on ebay (you can get them for around £300 - £500), and you could also think about getting a hard disk version. The only thing you will need to go for Audi is to remove component protect. All the coding and configuration you can do yourself via VCDS or the hidden menu.
