I did see that although it doesnt end there. You need bolts. Seals. Gaskets and more to change a head

There is no oil going to the exhaust lifters causing them to not pump up. Gonna start new post to try figure it out.

    Well this is unbelieveable.
I have cured the fault with the audi.
It was a tiny roll pin that had failed allowing the rocker shaft to spin freely thus making the oil holes face in the wrong direction.
Its another example of how stupid these engines are.
I aligned the shaft and fitted new roll pin and now i have oil to the tappets.
Hopefully this was a human error causing the roll pin to be damaged and not another mechanical failure to add to the list for the 16v tdi

I can now report that the car starts better. Has less airbox noise. More airflow through the exhaust and better performance.

Hi sorry to be a pain and reopen an old thread.... but..
I appear to have the same problem. 07 BRE,C on the head, 140 k miles and springie/missing lifters, not sure if exhaust or inlet yet. Timing belt done just before I got it
To pull the the tappets does the shaft slide forward out of the head and did you have to pull the front off the car.
Do you have a link for New tappets etc
Did you have To pull the head and check valves or just replace tappets
Did you start a new thread I can look at
Did you pull the sump to check go bits.
Did it cure the problem. I'm not sure whether to fix or scrap it.

    Thanks..
