Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere, but when I was talking to a meta-dealer today, he suggested that Audi have stopped taking orders on A6 factory orders as there's some technical problem. Unfortunately I wasn't listening too carefully, but it was something about a problem joining the gearbox to something or other! It apparently explains why people like DtD are unable to take new orders as there's more of a hiatus between old and FL model output.

Has anyone else heard anything about this?

I worked in automotive for a few years mainly linked to model change for a couple of manufacturers. They all do it differently. If be surprised if there are major issues as the A7 is being built with similar drivetrain and this will have been in test for up to 18 months. For the remainder of old model vehicles the sales teams quite often do deals for specific specs of vehicles into specific markets as this allows older outgoing inventory of components to be reduced in a more measured way.

nissan didn't and we're an absolute nightmare as they took all sorts of orders and our inventory targets off expensive parts were zero left. With long European supply chains stereos and other expensive out going parts needed to be checked line side almost hourly as if you run out of parts you are screwed. The rationale behind a midlife face lift is two fold; there will be, away from the new lights and bits we see, a whole load of component changes which both improve some elements, but more importantly reduce the production cost of a vehicle entering the middle age which therefore commands a reducing price.

i also figured out that almost all rumours in the showrooms were not based on any fact!
