Hi all, just joined as hoping for some help. Was driving my 2003 avant auto today when all of a sudden while accelerating I lost all drive and no reverse either. I have no flashing PRND or inverted colours. Has anyone any ideas?

Hi, thanks for replying. No sign of any leaks. Do you know which fuse I should check?

A bit obvious, but a colleague of mine thought his gearbox busted one morning, but after "investigating" the matters the same evening, it was just the inner joint (is that the word?) that had broken - the drive shaft was hanging down :P

Would it one of the engine management fuses?

Any one of the engine or transmission related fuses can make the tranny go bananas

Things have moved on a little. Towed it to an audi specialist and they ran a diagnostic. the only fault they found was incorrect gear ratio? they said could be gearbox ECU or new box......
deciding to try the ECU being the cheaper option i started looking for it. not finding it in the more easy locations i decided to look if it was on the box. jacked the car up and took the undertray off and clear as day i have a leak from the drive shaft oil seal.......could this be the cause of complete loss of drive and reverse?????

The most obvious answer in no, but sometimes strange things happens, The tiptronic are filled by two different types of oil, atf and regular gear oil.
I,ve heard of cases where the tranny first have an gearbox oil leak, and then developes an internal leak of atf ...
Incorrect gear ratio means it slipps, eighter something is burned or there is lack of ATF.
If you look under the sump you'll find a big screw wich is there to check the atf level, that's the place to start................ Just leave the TCU for now, 95 % chance there are nothing wrong with it

BTW when checking the ATF level the engine have to idle, otherwise it takes two months to get rid of the smell of rotten fish
