    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone has had Williams Ceramic Coat applied by the dealer to their car and views on whether it's worth it or not?

We pick up our new car in a couple of weeks and am not inclined to get it unless there's a compelling reason mainly because of the cost aspect but it is Panther Black.....

    Any thoughts comments appreciated.

    Cheers

I don't know anything about Williams ceramic coat, but I have a second hand 2006 S4 with Autoglym life shine since new and the bodywork still looks amazing. A quick wash and bodywork looks just as shiny as new.
The Williams website seems to say the same thing. I would suggest its a plus for looking after the paint.

    Hi.
I would stay away from the likes of life shine, supaguard and possibly Williams. These are all over priced wax/sealants and in my opinion not very good. I would save my money and buy a good quality wax and use that. Why would anyone spend £350 on lifeshine or supaguard when a good quality carnuba wax will look better and last longer and only cost £40 with about 10 coats coming from it ?
Save your money, or if you really want to use supaguard, you can get the sponge from eBay for £5 or lifeshine at £10 and do it yourself, though I would personally use a carnuba wax.

If you're going to have a car sealed then it needs to be prepared properly.

A dealer certainly won't be treating your paintwork to even so much as a clay bar prior to application of the sealant they get the largest margin on....so they'll simply seal in all of the crud.

My suggestion would be to pay a local valeter with a good rep to do it for you....it'll work out at half the dealer cost but you'll need to book a few months in advance as is a full day.

I have paint sealed one car (profile pic) after a bare metal respray...two years on it still looks great....downside is, if like me you enjoy polishing and waxing you'll not be able to on a sealed car as it looks awful.

In summary sealants are ideal for those that haven't the time/patience/inclination to maintain bodywork the old fashioned (and rewarding) way

When I was arranging delivery of my new Polo I was quoted something like £400 for Williams Ceramic Coat by the supplying dealer. Err no thanks.

I had autoglym life shine on my last car and thought it was terrible.didnt look any better, didn't wash any easier and genuinely felt like I'd wasted my money. As above I'd get some decent wax and do it yourself as it requires it.

As others have said, the quality of a good sealant is in the prep work before hand, and unfortunately this will be nearly non-existent if done by Audi! Use the money and pay for a professional detailer, or learn the techniques and do it yourself...be warned though...it can ruin your weekends and your wallet...!!
