OK, so before i go out and spend a wad on a new fly by wire pedal assembly can anyone confirm that the failure of just one of two the sensors will trip the ECU in to ignoring the pedal completely.

In VDCS i am getting the message 008482 - Accelerator Position Sensor (G79) P2122 - 002 - Signal too Low

Just to muddy the water. Earlier in the year i converted this Mk4 to an R36 and its been fine for 6 months, until yesterday when the car just stopped taking inputs from the pedal. So their is every chance its wiring (although it seems to check out) or the Revo modded ECU has failed in some way .

I was under the impression that if one sensor failed, the second would be sufficient, but may put the car in to limp mode.

The clincher seems to be that if i put my foot under the accelerator and gently pull it up it triggers the failure.

Regarding the construction of these sensors: do the resistors have a frictional element or are they, frictionless. IF the latter i would assume they pretty much last forever. This is the original Mk4 v6 pedal which has only covered 102k.

Regarding installation of a new pedal, are their any specific adaption requirements apart from throttle body alignment in block 060 basic settings.

    gruh, gremlins.

Well here's the inside of the sensor, very basic frictional system. So it will ware out at some point. Note the dark tracks where the fingers have worn the material down.

Seems a failed lambda sensor can damage the ECU and cause this, next step is getting it checked.
