Suggest you post on the Golf part of the forum - electrics are essentially the same and the Eos forum usually has tumbleweed blowing through it.

Dealers used to fit cruise for £150, which is good value considering parts are about £75. I had it done on my wife's Eos. Same time, they had massive problems getting cruise to work on my GTI and ended up swapping all manner of stuff so I was glad I'd not gone DIY.

As you say tumbleweed on the EOS forum, but some useful specific info here.

Up to week 44 of 2009 production, the 'cheap' retro fit option will work. I've found this out having just bough a 2009 59 plate. Turns out it was built in week 48 of 2009 (nice chassis number ending 012345 though!!) so more expensive cruise option is required at around £370. Apparently there's another break in the production spec in around May 2010 when a full update was released and cruise on that is around £315 to retrofit....
There are 3 kinds of people in the world, those that can count and those that can't.
