Would the fault code generated on Rabid's VCDS be the same as those generated on the diagnostic equipment a VW dealer would use?

The danger with using the dealer is they'll not only rob you for a diagnostic they may just condemn the controller as a best guess.

Reference the "No ASAM data"....... A normal scan appears like this one.....

    Address 01: Engine (J623-CAYC) Labels: 03L-906-023-CAY.clb
    Part No SW: 03L 906 023 ML HW: 03L 907 425 C
    Component: 1,6l R4 CR td H43 9052
    Revision: --H43--- Serial number: 00000000000000
    Coding: 08114014032500080000
    Shop #: WSC 01357 011 00200
    ASAM Dataset: EV_ECM16TDI02103L906023ML 003005
    ROD: EV_ECM16TDI02103L906023ML_VW36.rod
    VCID: 7CF3B99AF71A8DF87DD

    No fault code found.
    Readiness: 0000 0000

.....note the line beginning with "ROD:" which is missing from yours.

The lack of entries of time, date and mileage normally happens with a 'no comms' error.

Who knows it could be a faulty controller, I would e-mail RossTech with a copy of the scan or post on their forum.

Yes, every scan I have run previous has generated fault codes that the vw dealership recognised and confirmed the faults, I have never had a code like yours come up before, it is not the normal format of code.

We all agree on that but it's still odd that the data isn't available for a 2010 controller and something to do with that controller is putting the mil on.

Is the vcds software up to date?

I have signed up to the Ross tech forum but I can't post in the relevant forum because I do not have a VCDS. If anyone here is registered would they be so kind as to post up a copy of my scan? I can e-mail it if required. Otherwise it is looking like I will have to pay the VAG dealer rates just for them to diagnose it.

So much for the Ross Tech Forum! I managed to post the scan on there only to be told they won't help me because the scan came from pirated software!!!

    Only to be expected.
Perhaps do another scan with genuine software, maybe would reveal more or different details

Their issue is the pirated software not the device used.

The software version in your scan is out of date. If it is genuine software, when it's connected it would automatically notify the user of the need to update.

A scan with genuine software may quite possibly give a more usual informed result. Any one here near you? VWAF User Location Map - VCDS - Google Maps
