I have a A6 DRL and one of the LED strips no longer works.
I opened the headlight and removed it and before I start trying to fix it - I figured it might be worth simply ordering a new one.

Thing is, it is not a recognized part number when calling Audi.

The part number I have on the silk screen of the PCB is 170 237-02

Anyone know what the actual part number is to order?

Or what fails on these - the LEDs or driver. On a quick continuity check last night the some of the LEDs are dead. I can't believe they are wired in series - one dies they all die. If it is that simple (which it probably won't be) great but there is too much circuitry on there for a simple series chain of LEDs and a few current limiting resistors.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

    Thanks

This happened to me, luckily under warranty. However, I did a bit of research and it seems that Audi will only supply the whole headlamp unit and that's not cheap, as you might expect.

There is chap on ebay who will repair your existing light for around £100.

    Hi,
Yes I saw the ebay guy. He offers the whole refit service too.
To be honest, 10 mins in the oven at 130c and off comes the lens. Five more minutes and the PCB is out.
You are presented with 6 LEDs and a driver circuit. Either the LEDs have all burnt out (Audi over driving them) or something else has gone. The ebay guy is saying he replaces with a genuine PCB so either he doesn't or it is a lot cheaper than £100 (as he has already invested max one hour to get it out and put it back in).
Found this on Google http://www.oemxenonshop.com/Audi-A6-...ge-Repair.html middle photo. I will drop them a mail.

On your warranty replacement how did the replacement go - did it last a lot longer and what side was it?

    Thanks

    That's £85 x 1.04 x 1.2 plus collection fee from the PO, so around £115 actually.

How so? It's not coming from the USA, the guy is GMT+8 so more than likely China/Hong Kong. Never had to pay any duty from China before but have USA. I think there is some agreement but can't say for sure.
Anyway, I will have a better look at the PCB over the weekend to see why it doesn't work. I really posted the link to help others with the same issue.
I expect it's <£50 if I can find one in Europe and that won't attract duty.

Just buy a new (used) headlight unit, will save you hassle in the long run.

4% duty on auto parts plus 20% VAT on top plus the PO handling charge. Only if they spot what it is of course...
