    Hi,
I have just purchased a 2011 (2010 Model Year) A6 Avant and believe it has MMI 3G (Standard) and really want to add DAB to it, I've read that this can be done but having red about CP (Component Protection) I decided to try and get a genuine New DAB unit from Audi only to be told that one is not available for My car (Except the Pure Dab Add on system).

I looked @ my existing tuner which is 4G0 035 056 and I "Think" from most of My reading that a suitable DAB tuner for Mine should be a 4G0 035 061 (D).

Can anybody with knowledge on this please let me know if this is possible or not and / or any clues on how to proceed.

    Thanks

    Lyndon

Thanks for that but I know people like Kufatec will / can do it but I really would like to do it myself as I'm an engineer and would like the satisfaction of knowing what / how it works etc plus it will obviously save money if I do it myself and also I'm a bit of a perfectionist & I know if I do it the job will be done 100% correctly and sometimes other people don't take quite as much care and concenrate on the fine details so much.

    Thanks

The link I put up for the stuff from Kufatec is only the parts you can fit it yourself. As you have an Avant the DAB aerial is already in the rear passenger side window so only need to add the unit into the cage at the rear of the car connect the aerial and (possibly) recode the car to recognise the DAB unit but even that may not be necessary

Thanks, I thought the Kufatec was installed equipment only.

I will go and have a closer look and see what that equipment conststs of and what I need to do for Aerial on My car and hope if it needs coding it's not too difficult !

    Thanks Again

Wow that looks very interesting and quite similar to what I want to do, the CP (Component Protection) looks a little worrying though - looks like I will have to do some research on that as well !

    Thanks Again

I have the Kufatec AMI (identical to the OEM one) installed in my C7 and it came with a dongle to do the coding so I would think if coding is necessary then they will include a dongle

    Hi..
It's a piece of cake once you have all the bits to do the retrofit. In the end I used an external aerial as I couldn't get the wires to attach to the aerial in the window...it also removes the need for the signal amplifier.
No coding was needed...just CP removal.
I'm in Egypt at the moment but if you need to ask anything I'm back at the weekend!
