New battery (the same one as Gups) fitted and I think coded correctly but am getting the following VCDS fault, along with the battery light coming back on after 10 secs

    Googled but nothing conclusive

Have cleared DTC's multiple times and keeps returning...anyone have an idea, does the regulator need some special attention after a battery change?

Weird thing is that new battery was 80% and ran engine for 20mins and now reading 100% so clearly alternator is charging it.

Will take somewhere & get alternator rechecked but would be grateful if anyone's had this before?

Can't find the fault code on Ross Techs website, send them an email for direct support.

From what i read on the net it could be voltage spike from the alternator.

Was the battery fully charged when you fitted it?

Check to make sure that you have no other fault codes as other modules could have sustained damage.

You should check the output voltage from the alternator as well to confirm that you are get 14.5 -15 v dc from it.

Dan, yes it seemed to be as came from a high volume supplier and DIS was reading 100% in 10 mins

Multiple electrical items showed up as faulty but cleared after a DTC clear

Could the low voltage on the old battery have damaged the regulator itself.

Intend to get the alt checked but can't be tomorrow as school sports day and both my kids takig part...so will use the Jaguar instead.

Why does this forum censor the abbreviation for Jaguar

It may have had a high current draw initially which caused a voltage spike.

Which may have affected the voltage regulator, try looking at the alternator output using the VCDS scope tool to make sure that the output is a still at dc voltage.

    Wuzza 'scope tool'

According to VCDS guru alt can't be tested..but that was 2012 and a lot may have changed?

Can I use VCDS to check the alternator / battery charging OK ?

I suffer from this. changed the battery, all seemed well but a few weeks later, problem returned. I suspect it's the glow-plug harness at fault, causing battery drain. However my fault code readout differs from yours:

That said, I also get intermittent electrical problems after extended periods of rain, so you could have water swilling around in the car somewhere (see Gup's thread The most Lemon Audi A6 Avant strikes again) and that may be causing a leak to earth, which would flatten the battery.

Left for 2 days without driving and battery still reading the same

Battery light on dash kicks in after 15 seconds so would hazard a guess that my fault is either with the alternator or the battery regulator as SOC is at 30% but battery condition at 90%, generator voltage at 14.3v and battery actual at 12.3

Glows in my case changed 4 months ago and no water to be seen anywhere, even had a look I the scuttle area near the firewall which is a known area for this

That generator voltage is what it specifies and not the actual output voltage does the battery actual voltage change when tested with the car not running to a running condition?

From the page 2 picture you are drawing 20 amps into the battery, this would indicate that the battery may have a duff cell in it.

Maybe take it back to the supplier and have them confirm if its good as it's not it could of damaged something, and if the alternator is shot then i would be looking at them to settle the cost of a new one.

What module did you get those measuring blocks under? Ignore this as its the 061 module which is not on the 2.0 facelift models.

I have a 2.0l facelift model but maybe could compare values as they should not be too different.
