    Hi Mark,

Looking at you attachment of MVB 04 data window 1 your alternator may not be functioning. View description on this page Link:- Audi Portal: ECU Diagnostic . Audi A6 4F (2005- ) . Energy Manager J644

What does data window 3 & 4 say in MVB 10 in module 61?

    Measured value block 010:
    Specified alternator voltage
    DF signal
Alternator/ J644- energy management control unit interface (OK / not OK)
    Alternator (OK, not OK)
    ATB
    G

    Specified alternator voltage = 14.5
    DF signal 100%
Alternator/ J644- energy management control unit interface = OK
    Alternator =Not OK

So looks like the alternator itself

Am planning to have a look underneath to get part no of Alt on Saturday, with this I'll see if I can change the Alt regulator and the Aux belt alone, if this doesn't fix it then an new/refurbished Alternator will be required

Incidentally the aux belt made by Dayco (who make them for Audi) is a mere £20.12 delivered off ECP with their 'hot30' discount code ATM

Replaced alternator regulator with the alt still on the car.

All running OK now and alternator is charging the battery with no fault codes

By way of an update, the car died on me again this week.

Had the alternator tested (after me changing the regulator last month) and it was OK
Had the old battery tested and it was ok, they said it was perfect and were surprised given it the original and 7yrs old
Had the new battery tested and it had two faulty cells (it has 6)

    So lessons learned:

    1) just because it's a new battery don't assume that it will be perfect and have it tested.
    2) An old battery if conditioned correctly (CTEK in my case) can last a lot longer than its warranty states

The battery place that did the test did so FoC and have even given me a note to say what's wrong with the battery so I can claim on the warranty, naturally I don't actually want a replacement but my money back, but will take the replacement and keep it fully charged for use at another time.

Battery place also advised that battery cells can get damaged in transit, e.g. cells breaking.

    Hi All
update i am aware old post but 02252 generator was on my car a known long term fault with the wiring loom on the alt/gen
Repeat known fault but was not fixed under warrant by 3 garages !!!Just left with an AGM batt notgettingenough voltsand thus needed a new AGM battery after just 3 yrs and low miles.
    This may help somebody.
Two vw specialist could not fix the 02252 code.
I managed to cross check with google translate and find on Russian forums and T4 forums that a new generator/alt cable is needed with modified parts.

VW are fully aware of the faulty cable and why no recall!!!!
