Hi, I've just managed to get hold of a second hand Audi Swivel towbar including electrics. I'm picking it up later this week and believe it comes with everything needed (including the trailer control module) but I can't see anywhere anyone who's posted instructions on how its all fitted where the control module is mounted and how everything plugs together.

I have a copy of VCDS so I think I can code it myself once its done!! but if I can find some detailed instructions on installing the towbar and the wiring It would be really appreciated !!!!! :-)

Its the original Audi wiring. It has the activation switch that is installed by the satnav system and the trailer control ecu , but I have no idea were this is mounted or the cable route for the wiring ?

I should have checked before buying it but I naively assumed the cabling would be pre-fitted in the boot to just plugin the Audi trailer module (4F0907383D) and then complete the other wiring but this does not appear to be the case :-( I can see the space in the boot to fit the control module but cant see any of the 3 plugs/connector that connect to it.

Does anybody know how I can get this installed. I'm struggling to find any information on the wiring and now wondering if I should just re-advertise it and buy an aftermarket towbar (with dedicated wiring kit) instead !

Any help or information would be really appreciated !!! as I really like the swivel over the removable solutions I've seen

    Thanks

Be careful with second hand tow bars, for some models they have support parts that rivit into place so are a one time fit part. The tow bar manufactures don't sell them separately (to control the risky second hand market).

Personnally to me, a tow bar is a safety device and so not an area to penny pinch.

Audi source most of their bars from Westfalia so if you want OEM buy one of theres.
If you want to continue with your solution I suggest contacting your local independant tow bar fitter, I had mine done for £100 as I sourced the tow bar separately.

Hi. Looks like I bought your towbar
Well, took me 2 weeks to get it sorted
Audi or Westfalia doesn’t sell electrics for this towbar!
Dedicated harness doesn’t have a third plug (blue) which connects releasing wheels with a module.
My solution was to order all plugs from a dealer and made an electric harness by myself.
It was a bit of a challenge because I didn’t know how long cables need to be, ELSA wiring diagrams told me a thickness and colour of wires, rest was a mystery but at the end I have a job done
Towbar looks great and works well too.
    Regards
