Hello all. First post so be kind please. I'm personally more aligned to products from Munich but have found this site to be a great resource. Last autumn I helped a friend with a Tiguan install new FW and maps to enable postcode destinations and replaced the original rSap bluetooth module with one that supported her iphone. The info on this site was invaluable - I couldn't had done it otherwise. I was even able to code the module successfully. She was pleased as punch and I was relieved - I had visions of creating some expensive doorstops labelled with VAG part numbers.

I'm now helping a friend with a 2007 A6 saloon. His car has a few miles (some 435K!) but is in impressive condition - a testimonial to the build quality from Ingolstadt. He has two issues that he wanted help with - original maps and wonky bluetooth. The car has the original 2G MMI High nav system. After research here and elsewhere I found a source for the 2014 NAV DVD, downloaded it, used vagcom to enable being able to eject the original 2007 map DVD and installed the new DVD. All worked a treat and he's well chuffed.

Next challenge is the bluetooth. He uses an iphone and says that some months ago he started to have problems in that calls would go through but he could not hear them. It otherwise seems to work fine; it pairs automatically and contacts are visible. The dealer claims a new bluetooth module is required. A general scan reveals no faults and the data for the BT module is:

    Address 77: Telephone Labels: 4F1-910-336.lbl
    Part No SW: 4F1 910 336 A HW: 4F1 862 335
    Component: BTA H09 0710
    Revision: 00H09000 Serial number: 00000007520288
    Coding: 0040021
    Shop #: WSC 02335 785 00200
    VCID: 2241F451FDD4D09

    No fault code found.

Any thoughts on how to best proceed? Everything else in the MMI seems to work fine. What I don't know is the exact version of iphone and ios level that he's using - I'm thinking that there is a possibility that he did an ios update and that broke things. The MMI FW is the original version - I could upgrade to 5570 but am not keen to do so unless it fixes the bluetooth. Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

Has he tried another phone connected? Can they hear the driver? Maybe its a microphone issue so try another phone first.

Btw, A6s are made in Neckarsulm, not Ingolstadt

    Welcome to VWAF.

    Neckarsulm, Ingolstadt, whatever.

Thanks for the welcome. He's tried a Nokia phone with the same result and it's an iphone 4 running ios 7.1.1 (the very newest version). I'm having him try a couple of little things like ensuring the phone name doesn't contain an apostrophe and deleting all pairings from the car and the phone and pairing afresh. I guess running 7 year old FW in the MMI and the latest in the phone is probably not the best recipe for success.
