    Hi guys,

Having trouble finding the best fuses either end of the dash to install a dash cam, looking for two fuses to tap, one 12v Accessory and one permanent 12v from battery.

Anyone who has installed a dash cam or something similar please can you advice which fuses you taped.

    Many thanks

driver side dash has all the 30 and 15 supply's you need and spare slots to

why from the battery when you have a 12volt 30 supply buzz bar on the fuse rail ??????

i suggest you use a terminal 15 so you dont drain the battery with ignition off, dont tap into an existing circuit create your own fuse circuit from the 15 fuse rail

Im trying to avoid wiring something to permanent due to warranty.

As I'm not a car electrician what do you mean by a terminal 30 & 15, plus cant see any buzz bars. The doesn't need anything more than 3amps.
The dash cam has a powersmart adaptor to stop draining but needs 12v live.

Fuse taps for me seam like the best solution to avoid warranty issues.

remove the fuse carriers you wil see the buzz bar which is the main supply to each fuse rail

warranty will not be affected as only failure linked to the retrofit will invalidate the warranty plus if fitted as suggested the circuit will be protected as long as your wiring routing and connection to the fuse rail is adequate

    terminal 30 constant live

    terminal 15 ignition live

    terminal 31 earth

if you tap into a fused circuit then your loading that circuit beyond its design and calculated amperage/fuse rating

earth point in this area ..... remove os inner sill trim and lower A pillar trim, you will find a bolted 10mm earth point at the A pillar

Thanks.. That does make a lot more sense!

What do you suggest for the best way to connect to the buzz bar?

I may have some spare flyleads for either the micro fuse or normal fuse positions on the fuse rail, if you wish I will post them to you other wise maplins may have the correct type female contacts

The three fuse carriers just can be removed easily for access then pop out the carrier and remove the rear black plastic cover

Will have a quick look to see if I have any pictures to make it easier to understand

Many thanks for your help.. Had a quick look, can see empty fuse holders would just need as you say the flyleads with the right connectors on.
Pictures would be brilliant! Plus if you have the right flyleads then would be great to make a deal.

Nice one! Any connectors needed for the terminal end? I take it the picture is the terminal.
