Hi all, have suffered the second EPB module failure (after caliper replacement was working, but module has failed internally again - relays clicking inside module but no response)

I think the original for the car was 3C0 907 801 B suffix.

Car is a 2006, can I use a later part revision, as plenty on evilbay.

This link for a US Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is for the EPB controller flash update US recall. The writer has had it installed in the UK, but you have to pay. A VAG-trained indi workshop with VAS computer that connects to VW’s mainframe will charge 1 hour +VAT -- typically £60 +VAT. VW main agent, (Beadles, Sevenoaks) wanted two hours. This software update is relevant only to specific versions of EPB controller:
(link sent in PM due rulez of this forum)

Here are the UK flash details. It’s a two-stage EPB controller FlashROM update. It changes the way the controller reports under voltage conditions. VCDS (2006 Passat SEL Estate) readout before flash:
Address 53: Parking Brake Labels: 3C0-907-801-53.clb
    Part No SW: 3C0 907 801 B HW: 3C0 907 801 B
    Component: EPB VC8HC001 013 0001
    Revision: 013
    Coding: 0000012
    Shop #: WSC 05311 000 00000
    VCID: 21672875F8755316A1D

    No fault code found.

First flash produces 3C0 907 801 BZ s/w revision 0001. The second flash produces:
Address 53: Parking Brake Labels: 3C0-907-801-53.clb
    Part No SW: 3C0 907 801 GX HW: 3C0 907 801 GX
    Component: EPB VD8E2777 013 7077
    Revision: 013
    Coding: 0000012
    Shop #: WSC 01244 210 127809
    VCID: 7EDD3309294BCCEEFC5

    No fault code found.

Although this flash update assists, it does not take account of the poor quality output FETs (Field Effect Transistors) on the ECU board that can melt when the EPB motors seize and draw excessive current.

Can a Skoda dealership VAS do it Richard?

I think my module may be dead, been running with only a right hand motor for 9 months after the left packed up (right was replaced a year ago along with the module and button) I think only using one motor (the left cracked in 2 and was junked) may have killed it.

Desperately in need of a caliper but I'm back in full time college at the moment, not working puts a huge strain on the finances! Plus the MOT equivalent test in May!

Need the handbrake sorting and a Highline instrument cluster for that!

Dunno what Skoda workshops have fitted. Guess you could take that TSB into them and ask?

If the motor alone has gone on your left then best way is to get a new caliper and change over the motors, then return the new caliper with the old motor for its part-exchange refund

For your module try getting a VCDS scan to see what it's reading after changing the left motor?

Crasher writes: “I will be having a TRW stock order of 3C callipers in the next few weeks and these will be sold for £183.72 inc. VAT for the early 2005>2007 calliper and £246.51 for the later units. The early calliper motors from VW are £299.15 alone and a complete calliper £405.44. My web site:”

The he motor decided to break in 2 and fall off so no replacement discount unfortunately. I still have the caliper for the right as only changed the motor that time too.

Was onto crasher, he has none in stock, flat broke now too. I'm in Ireland so everything is so much harder to get hold of

Hello. I'm getting trouble of epb fault as described 02845 short to ground. My epb module serial is 3c0907801a. When i look up at various forums low voltage damages are being thought to be responsible for this issue. Hence first of all i want to ask that is 3c0907801a updatable module or not?

As stated above your question, the modules are updateable unless the boards inside have suffered burn damage. It is therefore better to source a slightly later module revision noting that much later revisions will not be suitable for your older model.

Although this flash update assists, it does not take account of the poor quality output FETs (Field Effect Transistors) on the ECU board that can melt when the EPB motors seize and draw excessive current.

So if your the board inside is fried then no amount of updating is going to work. Also most parking brake modules on the B6 iirc are under the rear carpet INSIDE the car. I have not heard of an EPB module being under the gearbox which would be a very stupid place to put a fragile plastic box with a circuit board inside (your other post suggested the EPB module was under the gearbox).

So should i replace with b,e or g suffix? And i confused that as you stated if the damaged boards inside of module occur then any fault must be seen on vcds?
