Hi a friend of mine has a 2010 2.0 CAHA TDI Le Mans A6.

I scanned it with my VCDS as the his MIL lamp was on.

He did not have the regen light on.

This car was bought with 115K on the clock and Full Audi servicing, he only does small trips city driving.

I cleared the fault but its come back.

I have recommended that he did the regen drive to see if it clears it.

Do the DPF pressure sensors give trouble on the A6's?

Next move is to replace the sensor or does anyone know of another thing to do.

I will be checking the soot levels using VCDS on friday when i go to clear the fault.

    Dan

DPF pressure sensors failing affect all DPF equipped models and each car is bound to have one failure at least once in its life.

He's picked the wrong car for city driving.

I'd be trying Audi for goodwill.

Checked the car again today the MIL light on for 5162 - Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 (G450) P0471 00 [101] - Implausible Signal.
Cleared the fault code MIL Light stayed off.
I checked the soot levels in the advance measuring blocks (UDS controller) and the calculated soot mass was 8.22g and the measured soot mass was 3.27-3.31 at 2000 rpm.
So can say that the DPF is clear as a blocked one would be around 40-95g.
Picked up a new sensor from TPS will stick on the car on monday and do the adaptation and recheck the readings.
All should be well touch wood for price of £60.16 for the sensor.

Fitted the DPF pressure sensor an easy job on 2.0 facelift car took around 20 minutes would a have been quicker if i did not have to remove the fuel filter bracket.

Carried out the adaptation of the new one 'basic settings, top of the list'.

Rechecked the readings and now his car was reading -0.39 on the measured soot level which was the equivalent to what my car reads.

Job done VCDS has been worth every penny spent on it as have now done a good few jobs with it for friends.

Dan - how do you measure soot levels on the facelift via vcds? I have to go into advanced measurements and it isn't clear what i'm looking at. Does give me time since last regen, distance in metres and a level in grammes - this part means nothing to me!

You go into Engine 01, Advance Measuring, then a options box will come up and you scroll down number 076 etc and then click on the check box.

This will then add this to the main screen, just check any other options that you want to see and when finished picking up the bits that you want just minimize the box.

For most things you should have the car running to see the live data.

You also have the log facility which will record the data into an excel file for easy reviewed if you took the car on a run.

Never operate VCDS whilst driving a car.
