    Hello all,

Gonna go look at a 2005 C4 for my sister tomorrow, was wondering if anyone has had any experience with one??

It's a 1.6 Auto, 2005, with 70k. I've tried looking at other makes but it's needs to be 1.6 or less, auto, and less than 8/9 years old. Its slim pickings out on the market right now and she needs one quick. Anybody's experiences of one would be great. I've never had or driven a French car for 10+ so I don't know much about them. Any replies would be great. Thanks.

    petrol or diesel.
if petrol, i wouldn't touch one with a barge pole. if diesel, i wouldn't touch one with your barge pole. unless of course she like complete piles of worthless broken down junk cluttering up her drive, in which case buy buy buy. if however she wants something that will be reliable, there are plenty of cars out there. the older french stuff thats not completely dependent on electronics are ok ish, but that c4 will be electronic everything, and the french and electronics are only bettered at being rubbish by landrover.
if it only needs to be auto and 1.6 or less, theres much better choices than a c4, which incidentally is also the name of an explosive ? coincidence ???

+1 avoid it They are riddled with problems mostly electrical and never cheap to fix.

if the handbrake is electronic, they are worse than a b6 passats.

however, the older c3 is a great little car.

If they are ok with petrol go for a golf you may have to increase mileage or take a year older but either way I would rather have a golf with 120k and fsh than a c4 with 60k.

I think that says it all really I had a Peugeot 407 and I swore to never buy a French car again. If it had anything do with electrons flowing along a wire then it went wrong I'd go with a Golf or Focus myself, I know people with both cars who have 2+ kids and have no real problems.
