Hahaha,to be fair that's quite understandable as I think everyone struggles with that, just think that the basics should be correct in such a technological car but some of this technology seems to be a backward step.

All sounds a bit disappointing. Is it a quick fix as it is a bit of a pain to leave it with the dealer for a whole day tomorrow even if it gets a complementary clean?

ps. I am currently cruising the Channel off the Isle of Wight in my amphibious Allroad!

Just had mine replaced - took quite a while - they had to paint the aerial to colour then a couple of hours to fit.

Quick Update - new GPS aerial supplied and fitted by the dealer. All fine now but clearly a 'known' problem in case anyone has the same problem.

Thanks to everyone for their input!

Mines packed up today, had me about 30 miles south of home. Booked into the dealer on Tuesday, hopefully a quick fix, ie replacement of the antenna. Disappointing thing is they will update the software, so steering will be screwed shortly.

they will need your vehicle for 2 days, new aerial needs painting plus its roof lining out to replace

you can decline 48k8 recall if you wish

Yes they said I could decline it, as long as I sign a disclaimer. They also said that if anything connected with the update then failed I wouldn't be covered. Problem is they said they didn't know what was updated. On the basis I know it's steering related I'm not willing to risk any later warranty issues with it.

They didn't mention needing the car for two days, in fact they won't have it that long because I need it. Surely they can identify the fault, order the part and spray it then call the car back in for fitting. It's solid black so maybe not a problem.

See how we go on Tuesday I guess.
