A second fuel pump has just failed on my ABD Golf, I'd thrown the last pump in the shed so I cut that open to find the root cause and found something jammed between the end of one lobe and the outer rotating part, and this was locking the two together so well that the motor had no chance of turning either.

The "something" looks like bits of carbon and once removed the parts spin freely again, the shame is the pump is a non servicable item and can't be reassembled.

If you have power to the pump but can't hear it running this is probably the cause.

I'll try and get the fuel system as clean as I can before fitting the next one but just wonder if someone has fitted an alternative pump to this model whilst retaining the OEM sender unit?
