If you post WOT vagcom logs it will help find faults

I'm getting a friend who knows Vagcom better than I do to do a full diagnostic check this week/weekend. I'll get him to do logs and hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.
Many thanks so far to everyone who has helped

Yes, good idea. We need to know if the boost code is 17964 or 17965.

That's the thing though, right from the very start there has never been any fault codes at all

In that case, until you fit a genuine VW TPS supplied 071 906 461 AX, I can't help you any further.

Apologies for not updating this thread. Been in poor health for a few months but all ok now and determined to get this car sorted once and for all
For anyone still interested we never got to the bottom of this. A friend has bought some dealer level diagnostic equipment and the car will be going to him after I get it through this years MOT. Since the car only cost me little money I've just decided to live with it until my health returned.
The car has developed a severe judder (not a misfire) when just coming on boost (around 2000rm)

Things done were AMM changed for a known good one, new genuine boost sensor, turbo stripped and checked - everything fine, N75 valve and vacuum lines checked and replaced, new intercooler after a minor shunt cracked the old one, car completely serviced with genuine VAG filters. Not once has the car ever thrown up a fault code.
The camshaft is in good condition and new tappets were installed when the head was rebuilt

I'll post an update when I get this next diagnostics session done.

Its good that you now only have to get the cars health back to normal, and give us all some good reading , information. The fact that no codes ever came up does not seem normal
    after all the alterations etc.
